The Minimal Cut Cover of a Graph

چکیده
We consider a problem which occurs in testing for short circuits in printed circuit board components. This problem can be modeled as the covering of the edges of an undirected graph by cuts. In particular, we look for a family of cuts F = f(C1; C1) : : : ; (C; C)g with minimal cardi-nality , such that each edge belongs to at least one (Ci; Ci). We call this problem the Minimal Cut Cover problem, MCC for short. For the special case of complete graphs, Loulou 7] describes a polynomial greedy-like method for MCC. Here we will show that MCC is NP-hard for arbitrary graphs, by drawing the relationship to the vertex color problem. Furthermore we give some algorithmic approaches for solving MCC approximately.

Cohen-Macaulay $r$-partite graphs with minimal clique cover
In this paper, we give some necessary conditions for an $r$-partite graph such that the edge ring of the graph is Cohen-Macaulay. It is proved that if there exists a cover of an $r$-partite Cohen-Macaulay graph by disjoint cliques of size $r$, then such a cover is unique.
متن کاملOn the oriented perfect path double cover conjecture
An oriented perfect path double cover (OPPDC) of a graph $G$ is a collection of directed paths in the symmetric orientation $G_s$ of $G$ such that each arc of $G_s$ lies in exactly one of the paths and each vertex of $G$ appears just once as a beginning and just once as an end of a path. Maxov{'a} and Ne{v{s}}et{v{r}}il (Discrete Math. 276 (2004) 287-294) conjectured that ...
متن کاملSome Results on Forgotten Topological Coindex
The forgotten topological coindex (also called Lanzhou index) is defined for a simple connected graph G as the sum of the terms du2+dv2 over all non-adjacent vertex pairs uv of G, where du denotes the degree of the vertex u in G. In this paper, we present some inequalit...
متن کاملWhen does the complement of the annihilating-ideal graph of a commutative ring admit a cut vertex?
The rings considered in this article are commutative with identity which admit at least two nonzero annihilating ideals. Let $R$ be a ring. Let $mathbb{A}(R)$ denote the set of all annihilating ideals of $R$ and let $mathbb{A}(R)^{*} = mathbb{A}(R)backslash {(0)}$. The annihilating-ideal graph of $R$, denoted by $mathbb{AG}(R)$ is an undirected simple graph whose vertex set is $mathbb{A}(R...
متن کاملA comparative performance of gray level image thresholding using normalized graph cut based standard S membership function
In this research paper, we use a normalized graph cut measure as a thresholding principle to separate an object from the background based on the standard S membership function. The implementation of the proposed algorithm known as fuzzy normalized graph cut method. This proposed algorithm compared with the fuzzy entropy method [25], Kittler [11], Rosin [21], Sauvola [23] and Wolf [33] method. M...
